Here are common questions and answers about carpet cleaning:
Frequency & Benefits
How often should I clean my carpets?
Most professionals recommend yearly cleaning for low-traffic areas, while high-traffic areas or homes with pets and children may need it every 6 to 12 months to prevent premature wear.
Why Should I have my carpets cleaned?
Regular cleaning removes embedded dirt, extends carpet life, improves indoor air quality, and helps remove allergens and odors. Many carpet manufacturers require proof of professional cleaning to honor a warranty.
The Cleaning Process

Should I vacuum before professional cleaning?
We recommend vacuuming as part of a general carpet maintenance program but as professional cleaners we do not require customers to pre- vacuum. We use the most powerful industrial vacuum system during the cleaning.
What is the most common professional carpet cleaning method?
We recommend hot water extraction or steam cleaning most of the time. It is a popular and effective method that uses a powerful truck mounted vacuum to remove water and dirt from deep within the carpet fibers. Hot water extraction or steam cleaning is the #1 recommended method by carpet manufacturers due to its effectiveness when performed correctly.
What cleaning products are used?
Valley Pro Carpet Cleaning uses the safest, most effective soap and detergent free solutions in the industry. We do not leave sticky residues. We leave the fibers feeling soft and clean with no chemical odor. As professionals we make the safety of your family and pets our highest priority and use green label certified products.
Do I need to move furniture?
We recommend moving any discretionary furniture onto another surface before the cleaning. We can clean around any furniture. Typically we will slide or move furniture such a sofa or loveseat around at no additional charge. Light furniture such as lamps, chairs, and night stands can be worked with at the time of cleaning. We clean around or under heavy furniture. We do not move most beds, entertainment centers, pianos, and similar sized pieces. However, we always try our best to accommodate to customer needs or special requests.
Do you clean area rugs?
We clean wool and synthetic area rugs daily. We can clean them in our rug cleaning shop in Heber City or on location.
Do you clean furniture?
Yes we clean furniture, along with mattresses and other miscellaneous items. Ask us if we can clean it!
How long will the cleaning appointment take?
On average 1 room of carpet takes 20 minutes to clean. A sofa takes 45 minutes to clean. The average job time requirement is 2.5 hours but this can very greatly depending on quantity, soil condition, and fabric type.

After Cleaning
How long does it take to dry?
Drying times can vary but often range from 4 to 6 hours to a full day, depending on humidity, ventilation, and carpet type. Please ask us about speed drying using air movers or quick-dry cleaning methods which are also available.
How soon can I walk on the carpet?
You can usually walk on the carpet immediately with clean feet, but avoid heavy foot traffic until it's completely dry. Our green cleaning process always leaves the carpets safe for kids and pets.
When can I move my furniture back?
Ideally, wait until the carpet is completely dry. Valley Pro will take measures to protect furniture on damp carpet.
Will my carpet get dirty faster after cleaning?
No, this is a myth related to older shampoo methods. Valley Pro uses soap and detergent free solutions that don't leave a sticky residue or attract dirt. However, the stain resistant coating on new carpet can degrade over time and contribute to faster soiling. Stainguard can be reapplied after a professional cleaning for an additional cost.
Stain Removal
What about tough stains like red wine or pet urine?
While many stains can be removed or significantly lightened, success depends on the type of stain, the type of carpet fiber, and how quickly the stain was treated. Valley Pro uses the most advanced stain removal solutions available and can remove most stains. We remove wine, ink, gum, oil, glue, soft drinks, red dye, markers, pet urine, and much more. Please let us know if there are any stains you are concerned about.
Can you remove pet odors?
Yes and no - while we cant always guarantee pet odor without seeing the job, we can guarantee odor removal for specific areas or certain situations depending on the scope and severity of the damage. The best way to remove odor is to remove the source. Please talk to your technician and have us get to the source of the problem.
What is carpet protectant?
It's a spray applied after cleaning to restore the factory-applied stain and soil resistance of your carpet fibers.
